ABOUT

Laura is a systems thinker and speaker, with a deep background in media/tech/branding. She is most known for large interdisciplinary strategy and projects. She is passionate about democratizing access to capital and information/data, with particular focus on progress to support women, climate and the world’s toughest last-mile problems. Frequent topics she speaks on are: diversity of thought, the future of humans in space and the urgent need to design information systems that will grow with humanity.

Laura serves on the US State Department’s Technology and Innovation Subcommittee for Public Private Partnerships. She’s proud to be a NASA Datanaut and participate in the inaugural cohort of the 14-week TED Residency program in New York City which lead to being short listed for the prestigious Aaron Swartz Data for Humanities Fellowship. She was named to the 2019 Women to Watch in Innovation List.

She is committed to sharing what she knows and mentoring is a big part of that and continues to work with non-profits and tech startups via Crowdfunder, Google Launchpad, Storytek, Unreasonable at Sea and Los Angeles CleanTech Incubator. 

In addition to innovation consulting and speaking, Laura has founded Data Oasis: a meta index & resource hub for open data and best practices,  and is currently developing SheCanHackIT: a digital literacy lab for women.
